A trade tasting with a difference

Wines from Rioja’s new concept 10×10 Trade Tasting on Tuesday 10th November at Banking Hall was a huge success attracting key trade and media across all sectors of the wine industry. The concept worked as a fantastic platform to highlight the quality and diversity produced in the region giving trade an overview and illustrating that there is a Rioja for every occasion.
Banking Hall was a stunning backdrop for the tasting that took the form of a relaxed self-pour concept, allowing trade to taste through the wines at their own pace. There was a constant buzz in the room as trade came and went over the day, with everyone excited to see what was on offer. The 100 wines from the 10×10 were selected from over 400 wines which were tasted blind by a distinguished panel of twelve experts including wine buyers, writers and specialists, chaired by Tim Atkin MW and Sarah Jane Evans MW.
The 10 categories were as follows;
Unoaked whites
Oaked whites
Rosado
Unusual wines
Generic wines over £15
Crianza
Reserva
Gran Reserva
Wineries seeking representation
Red made from non-Tempranillo varieties
