Nicky Forrest

With a background in publishing and 15 years behind her in PR, Nicky has tried to keep her youthful looks and sense of humour intact. A thoughtful strategist at heart, Nicky turned to PR and has never looked back.  She sees it as the marketing discipline for thinking people and is known in the industry for her perceptive and intuitive approach.  A regular on the speaker circuit, a judge at the PRCA awards and Chair of the ISC Marketing Awards Nicky is known for her strong counsel and leadership.

Miranda Kendall

Miranda Kendall

Phipps founding director and chairman, Miranda now leads a portfolio career as a non-exec and consultant.  Her food world starts with the family farm, Maple Farm Kelsale, producing organic eggs and flour, and a regular host to young children through the Country Trust schemes.  A trustee for prison charity Fine Cell Work and for Snape Maltings, home of Aldeburgh Music, she has broad experience in governance and change management.  She is an ambassador for The Woodland Trust and governor of a secondary school with responsibility for external relations and the extended school day.  Miranda practises the Phipps approach that good communications, internal and external, underpin every good organisation.

Johara Chambers

Johara Chambers

Having lived on both sides of the globe, Johara’s taste buds developed from the shores of Vancouver to the vineyards of Alsace before taking on the food and drink scene in the UK. A consumer heavyweight, her last decade of campaigns include creating edible gardens with Raymond Blanc OBE,  highlighting the 17 cuisines of London’s Chinatown, creating the first ever Jersey Royal potato pop up, and a Krug Creperie in Covent Garden.

Rhian Rosser

Rhian Rosser

With over 7 years’ experience in the wine trade, Rhian has worked with some of the finest wines in the world, from super Tuscans such as Sassicaia to big Burgundian legends like Domaine Leflaive. Rhian is now very excited be working with her favourite grape variety; Riesling. Her love of food and (mainly) wine grew from her time living in Italy’s foodie capital Bologna and Lyon, culinary Mecca of France. Rhian is in her element organising events and hosting parties. On a Friday night you will most likely find Rhian serving aperitivo with aperol spritz in her East End retreat, where most of the furniture would look at home on the set of Mad Men. Rhian also captains the Cheetahs, North London’s deadliest women’s netball team.

Lowri Robjohn

Lowri Robjohn

Lowri has always had an eye for the finer things in life so following a language degree and a stint as a TV researcher, she made a beeline for the wine trade. She has worked across the industry moving from retail to the buying team of a leading wholesaler, picking up the WSET Diploma and enjoying some spectacular wines along the way. She’s settled in well to the PR world which satisfies her need to communicate and her love of social occasions. At Phipps she is known for her fondness of fine Cognac and always being up to speed with the latest vinous trends.

Marinel FitzSimons

Marinel FitzSimons

Marinel has been working in drinks marketing and communications for the best part of 10 years.  Until recently she lived in Hong Kong heading up the marketing department of a leading wine distributor. She graduated from Oxford with a degree in French and Linguistics, and also speaks B2 Spanish, and beginner Mandarin.  Marinel is a holder of the WSET Level 3 Award and is a judge for the Good Taste Awards. When she is not trying to learn an obscure language, she can be found doing laps of Richmond park on her bike or climbing the nearest large hill.

Jen Gevaux

Jen Gevaux

A master of making things look easy, Jen has been at Phipps since her career began first as a runner at Rioja Tapas Fantasticas and more latterly single-handedly masterminding the annual VDP Rheingau tasting – if there is a tasting or an event to organise, this is your girl. Bettina Hepburn

Bettina Hepburn

Bettina grew up in Nicaragua and went on to study French in North Carolina. She discovered her love for food and wine after a short stint in the Loire Valley and started her PR career in the UK working with generic wine campaigns which has now become an area of specialism.  Over the years she has launched and implemented regional and national campaigns for France, Spain and Germany from wine tasting roadshows, to nationwide retail promotions and major wine exhibitions.  Bettina has her own blog, www.faithandvino.com.

Sula Richardson

Sula Richardson

Sula is drinks industry through and through. She started her career in wine retail working for some big-name high street retailers but briefly left wine to pursue advertising and sponsorship roles in creative industries. She re-joined the drinks industry to combine her skills and produce inspiring content and engaging events across the globe for the leading wine and sprits education provider before joining Phipps. As co-founder of a successful London-based professional networking group for women working in wine, she has great industry contacts and actively champions women in the industry. Sula holds the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits, WSET Level 1 Award in Sake and wrote her a master’s degree thesis on the business history of the Fine Wine market and investments.

Helen Schnabel

Helen joins the Phipps team with an impressive range of consumer PR experience working with brands such as Graze.com and Bioglan Superfoods. An English graduate with a fanatical obsession with grammar, Helen’s excellent writing skills mean she is equally able to carve a killer press release as she is to write up a review on her blog, For Goodness Cakes. A coffee connoisseur, cake aficionado and home-baker extraordinaire, Helen’s homemade breakfast bars are already firm favourites amongst the Phipps team.

Caroline Tanner

Caroline Tanner

Caroline’s love of food and wine began with an obsession with France. After graduating from Cambridge with a degree in modern languages, passing the Leiths diploma in food and wine, gaining WSET Level 3, spending a year as a pastry chef at the Ritz and escaping the kitchen to discover the drinks trade, she found Phipps!  Happiest producing events and working up a media angle, she is always keen to learn something new and will jump at any challenge.  In her spare time Caroline can be found solving crosswords and taking lots of pictures of food (when she remembers not to eat it first!).

Aisling Brown

Aisling Brown

Aisling’s love of food and drink stemmed from her upbringing that spanned several continents, inspiring her to set her sights on the world of gastronomic PR. Working with brands such as the world-famous Chocolate Show, Jersey Royals, French’s mustard and Frank’s RedHot sauce and M&S, Aisling brings with her a wealth of consumer knowledge and event organisation skills, helping to create the first ever Fourth of July festival in central London. Obsessed with restaurants and food, you’ll most likely find Aisling wining and dining her way around London’s newest openings.

Beth Terry

Beth Terry

Working and travelling around New Zealand and Australia kick-started Beth’s love of all things food and drink. Instead of a map, wineries and craft breweries were used to navigate both countries. Back in the UK, a stint at the drinks business gave her a great grounding in the industry. Coupled with her English Literature degree, a career in food and drink PR was inevitable. A keen home cook, you’ll find Beth honing recipes discovered on her travels, and hosting dinner parties in her flat. Failing that, look in one of Tooting’s local pubs and she’ll be chatting at the bar with an IPA.

Matthew Whitten

Matt grew up in rural Scotland, where his love for all thing alcoholic developed. After school at the age of 17, he travelled to Gansu province in China, where he taught conversational English to large classrooms of over 50 pupils. He quickly learned to embrace everything from the food, language and their famous spirit, Baijiu. Post China, Matt completed his degree in Social Science in Scotland before heading down to London and briefly working a stint in the film industry. Finally, he gravitated towards the wine trade and found his true passion. He joined Phipps, having completed his WSET Level 3 and now is immersed in all things Rioja and Cognac.

Ellen Birch

Ellen Birch

Recently graduated with a degree in French and Spanish from Cambridge, Ellen’s love of food and drink developed after multiple stints living in France. She spent her year abroad sampling the culinary delights of Lyon whilst studying as an Erasmus student, and has also worked on an organic French farm in Provence and at a château near Bordeaux. After being introduced to the world of communications through an internship at Hermès in Paris, Ellen found Phipps, where she’s beginning her career in PR working on the Rioja, M&S and Jersey Royals accounts.

George Holley

George Holley

Fresh from a stint managing a bar, George is the man to ask about anything alcoholic. From cocktails to craft beer, from wine to gin; anything that induces a hangover.
George is also a foodie and his favourite part of his Psychology degree was the module that explored human eating behaviour, why we eat, what we eat, and how much we eat. You’ll probably bump into George in an eccentric East London bar, boulevardier in one hand, and a vinyl record in the other.

Helen Buchanan

Helen Buchanan

Helen’s love of food and wine was fully realised when she was studying Classics at university, for which she blames the influence of the Romans. Whilst living in New Orleans for a year, she fully embraced the Cajun motto of “Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler” (Let The Good Times Roll) which led Helen to discover her love of Cajun cooking and French baking; so if you ever come round to her house expect a traditional jambalaya and beignets for dessert!  On returning from her travels, she knew her future was in the wine trade and after stints at Laithwaite’s, Berry Brothers & Rudd and as a sommelier, she joined Phipps.

Not only do we invest in relevant training opportunities but everyone also gets £400 to spend each year learning a new skill – it helps to keep our busy working lives balanced. So far the team has learnt how to snowboard, speak Spanish, arrange flowers, windsurf, make films and apply makeup for the catwalk, to name but a few.
